A long happy relationship isn’t seen only in the movies it can happen in real life too.  It takes effort but aren’t all good things worth working for?  I put together 3 simple suggestions for anyone looking to better their home life and strengthen their relationship.

# 1 Communication is key

It seems like most fights start over misunderstandings.  In heated situations we’re quick to assume the worst and it all spirals downward from there. Separate yourself when tensions are high.  It’s best to come back to a discussion once you’ve had time to calm down. With a clear head you are able to express yourself without saying something you can’t take back. This gives you the opportunity for back and forth discussion where you and your partner can speak and be heard.

When the relationship is going smoothly, spice things up by talking about things you wouldn’t normally discuss or ask questions you haven’t asked before.  This shows you care and you’re looking to learn something new!  You’ll begin to feel more comfortable being yourself and tough subjects wont seem so scary.

Communication is the first step.

#2 A little appreciation goes a long way

It’s good to let your partner know you enjoy spending time together. Saying thank you for the small things goes a long way. Even when an effort falls short, show your appreciation.  It’s the thought that counts.  If you smile when they’re around and you miss them when they’re gone, keep them close and show your appreciation.

#3 Motivation, Motivation, Motivation

Always motivate eachother.  Strive for greatness as a team.

I’m not talking about a six figure check or perfection all the time.  I’m saying it’s important to support your partner in every way and work towards the life you desire.  Better yourself and your relationship with sincere effort and positive reinforcement. Every little bit counts.

Chase your dreams and put in that extra bit of effort to improve your situation. You’ll find your days become less stressful when you have confidence in yourself and you know you have support at home.

If you feel that a strong relationship is something you want, these are just a few tips to help. They are so simple but they do require effort and commitment. At first those words may be intimidating to some, but like I said happy relationships do exist and you can have one! It’s actually a lot of fun to have a good thing going once you’ve found a healthy balance. :)
